Low Wind Velocity Turbine for Domestic Purpose

Convergence between Economy, Ecology and Energy should be defined for a sustainable future. The availability and the ability to utilize energy in its various forms, is an attribute that man-kind has developed over the years. Humans are in constant need of energy and this demand is only increasing by the day. With the increasing demand for energy, renewable sources of energy have become a viable alternative to meet the global energy demand. In this project we have designed a portable, compact and light weight wind turbine which can be used to power auxiliary devices, charge devices such as power banks, mobiles, Bluetooth speakers and other less power consuming devices. The designed turbine is modular and is simple in installation, set-up and maintenance. This system of portable wind turbines designed for mounting on vehicles can be used to generate power sufficient enough to charging of auxiliary devices operating at voltage ranges of 5-12 V. This can contribute in taking steps towards creating a sustainable future and utilizing the untapped wind energy to generate electric power.

Design and Fabrication of Eco-Friendly Device for CO2 Adsorption

Carbon dioxide is considered as a major contributor towards global warming. The amount of carbon dioxide from automobiles is approximately 65%, which is more than any other sources of emissions. Automobile vehicle engine exhaust after treatment design has become very important because exhaust emissions standards are ever increasing. In this work, an attempt was made to capture CO2 emission from automobile exhaust using Activated carbon. The concept of physical adsorption by Van der walls forces of attraction, CO2 found to be adsorbed on the surface of activated carbon. This device is nothing but an extension of the silencer. The device contains mainly bio degradable materials such as coconut coir, activated charcoal, corn cob etc. Final results obtained shows that considerable amount of HC, CO, and CO2 gets reduced. Activated carbon found to be a suitable one for CO2 capture from engine exhaust and it has great scope to be implemented in a vehicle exhaust system.

Biodegradable Super Absorbent And Absorbent Articles thereof

A diaper is an absorbent garment worn by babies until they are potty trained. The disposable baby diapers are multilayer structures consisting of layers of different materials. The disposable diapers are comprised of a polypropylene top cover stock, an absorbent layer, a polyethylene back sheet and elastic bands. The top polypropylene sheet is a hydrophilic non-woven sheet which permits the urine to pass through it and reaches the absorbent core. The middle portion is a super absorbent polymer which helps to hold the urine away from the skin and feceal enzymes. The diapers bottom most sheet is hydrophobic nonwoven films made up of polypropylene fibers. In our project an attempt is made to produce a bio degradable baby diaper by eliminating the polypropylene and replacing all the functional layers of the existing diaper with suitable bio degradable materials. During the course of the present work the function and properties of the individual layers like top-sheet, distribution layer and core was studied in detail and suitable alternatives were synthesized and chosen from available bio degradable materials. Detailed testing and experimentation like absorption, acquisition time, and rewet tests were performed according to standard procedures and optimum performance was achieved in terms of critical parameters like absorbency and strike through time through continuous experimentation. The performance parameters were optimized using the Taguchi analysis. Product design and aesthetic principles were applied to make the developed product (diaper) as close to the commercially available one.

Pushkart

Waste transportation is just as vital as waste separation, recycling, and other waste-related operations. Its transportation operation is quite important. It all begins with gathering it from various locations on the street. Because not all streets in several nations, including ours, are the same width, workers are paid to collect them in carts. The majority of those recruited are women, who have trouble pushing this trolley up hills or for longer periods of time when it is fully loaded. This project will assist them in their work by electrifying the cart with a simpler and more user-friendly design in which the person’s sole responsibility is to stand on the cart and speed it, with no need to push the cart. It not only minimizes the amount of work that must be done, but it also reduces the amount of time that must be spent on it. The cart is driven by a basic electric motor that is coupled to the axial rods and regulates the trolley’s movement. It can be implemented in gated communities, college campuses, and shopping malls, among other places.

Organic Waste Converter

Composting is the decomposition of organic waste by microorganisms under controlled conditions. Organic waste, which forms a significant part of municipal solid waste, has caused increased environmental concerns. It is estimated that around 50 percent of it can be composted, instead most of it is used for landfill or incinerated. By composting organic waste, we can preserve resources and produce a valuable by-product that can be used as manure. The existing compost bins have few challenges which are difficult to handle such as messy and smelly compost, time-consuming process (30-45 days), prone to insects, rodents and hard to clean. In addition, some of them release greenhouse gases. Cost issues are there with few automatic and high-end compost bins. This project aims at designing an organic waste converter, which is easy to use, ergonomic in nature and visually appealing. Designed organic waste converter consists of a separate chamber for blade cutter assembly (runs with help of an AC motor) and a compressing unit which runs on rechargeable 12V DC battery. The billets are formed in cubicle shapes, billets are used for the purpose of composting this helps in reducing the volume of the organic waste at source itself. Simple mechanism allows the user to maintain cleanliness. Users appreciated the product for its aesthetics, easy mechanism, easy handling, easy maintenance etc.

Wind Injection Turbine

A new concept in wind power harnessing is described which significantly outperforms traditional wind turbines of the same diameter and aerodynamic characteristics under the same wind conditions and it delivers significantly higher output, at reduced cost. Its first innovative feature is the elimination of tower mounted turbines. These large mechanically complex turbines have the enormous towers used to hoist them into the sky, are the hallmark of today’s wind power industry. The second innovative feature of the project is that it captures wind flow through an omnidirectional intake and thereby there is no need for a passive or active air control. Third, it accelerates the flow within a shrouded Venturi section which is subsequently expanded and released into the ambient environment through a diffuser simulating the performance of this wind delivery system and its interaction with the wind at the front end and with a turbine at the back end. The objectives of the present work are to model and understand the flow field inside the structure where the actual wind turbine is located as well as the external flow field which not only provides the intake flow but also has to match the exhaust flow of the system. The results show that it is possible to capture, accelerate and concentrate the wind. Increased wind velocity results in the significant improvement in the power output. This results lead to the design of the demonstration facility which has provided actual data which verified the significantly increased power expectations.

PLECO

We live in an era of skyscrapers. The maintenance has always been a tedious, uneconomical, unsafe task, which is performed only by professionals. These problems in the present scenario, made a necessity of a product like PLECO, as the famous saying goes “necessity is mother of invention. Pleco is totally unmanned, economical, environmental friendly, safe, smart, viable product which is used in grooming the skyscrapers effectively. On an average a building like U. B city spends approximately around 4 lakhs for cleaning only the glasses each time. Pleco can perform the same tasks at 0.0025% of the amount spent previously (aprox 1-1.5 k) and safe as no human involvement is need at higher altitudes of the building. The design is such that it performs skill based tasks like foam washing, dirt removal, polishing and many more, by climbing the walls with a working range of more than one kilo meter. Pleco sticks to the wall using suction or adhesion created by ducted fans (4500kv). It can also be controlled manually using N. R. F aurdino nano rc receiver transmitter circuits in case of emergency. The product is designed in such a manner that it automatically gets charged when it reaches certain threshold voltage, in the nearest station installed at every floor. At the first stage the brushes rotate and remove the dirt accumulated on the glass. It remains still for a longer time at the places where the dirct accumulation is more so that it cleans it better. Hence the reflected ir rays will slightly vary in magnitude, if the dirt concentration is less, then the glass appears semi transparent hence only little amount of ir rays is reflected back. In such places the product will move smoothly without delay.With safety as our theme, the risk and danger for the labors life working at higher altitudes is precluded.

Trashbot

Throughout India, the accumulation of waste and trash in public places is a problem that needs to be addressed. Picking up and sorting garbage is a tedious task and has health effects on the people who handle the waste. To overcome this problem, a robot that seeks and picks up garbage from the public places and also segregates them into metallic, dry and wet waste has been proposed. The proposed robot can put an end to accumulation of trash in public places and also improve waste management. Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan for a “Cleaner & Hygienic” India is the main motivation behind taking up this project. This project aims to reduce the human effort involved in picking up and segregating the waste (into dry, wet and metallic) by using Trashbot (a garbage seeking and segregating robot). Low -level waste management practices are now undergoing rapid change such that the technology and requirements for waste segregation in the near future may differ significantly from those of the present day. Trashbot is a project still in its relative infancy. With its main motto “Cleanliness and Hygiene”, the robot has the capability to establish itself as a product that could not only clean the surroundings, but also aid the processes of waste management.

In present busy life, rechargeable batteries of electronic gadgets like smart phones & laptops drain faster due to excessive usage and it is difficult to recharge them on the go. More over everybody cannot afford an additional battery source / Pack. We are designing a modern smart bench which absorbs the abundantly available natural photovoltaic green energy in DC form and store it in a Battery pack. This energy is converted it to AC form as and when required, for utilization. The smart bench also offers lighting system in addition to charging source. The bench is designed to offer a comfortable seating accommodation for four persons for quick relaxation while charging the devices. It is a smart-designed bench that enables all people to charge their devices. Anyone can relax on this bench, enjoy 4G Internet and simultaneously charge their phone or tablet. It functions solely on clean solar energy; this energy gets stored and is available to you 24/7. Working, studying, or just relaxing, it can all be done on this modern bench that features both wireless chargers and USB ports.

Solar-Powered Vaccine Refrigerator

As we have seen during the pandemic, vaccine storage has been very challenging, therefore we need efficient vaccine storage systems. Frequent or long-duration power outages that use grid-powered cooling are impractical for vaccine storage. This is a serious challenge that threatens the continuity of the vaccine cold chain, especially in remote areas. the “Peltier cooling module” which works on thermoelectric refrigeration, aims to provide cooling by using thermoelectric effects rather than the more prevalent conventional methods like ‘vapor compression cycle’ or the ‘vapor absorption cycle’. There are three types of thermoelectric effect: Seebeck effect, Peltier effect, Thomson effect. Peltier refrigerator works on the Peltier effect which states that when voltage is applied across two junctions of dissimilar electrical conductors, heat is absorbed from one junction, and heat is rejected at another junction. A Peltier cooler, heater, or thermoelectric heat pump is a solid-state active heat pump that transfers heat from one side of the device to the other, with the consumption of electric energy, depending on the direction of the current. Such an instrument is also called a Peltier device. It can be used either for heating or cooling, although in practice the main application is cooling.
