Money Bin

One of the biggest problems in India is maintaining cleanliness in the surroundings, especially at public places. There are several dustbins in public places such as railway stations and parks. However, in many instances, littering continues to pose a serious problem. Our idea is to provide a small incentive/reward for each person who contributes to the program by using the product, Money Bin. The incentives motivate public to use the dustbins at public places, thereby reducing the littering. The project Money Bin consists android application, RFID mechanism and a compartment used for segregation of the waste disposed. On successful disposal, points are awarded to the users. The users’ account details and rewards earned are stored in Firebase cloud database for further retrieval of information. The two major problem in India regarding waste disposal is the lack of usage of dustbins in public places and collection of plastic waste when uncollected poses serious problems to the environment. To address the first problem, we have come up with a reward based system to give the user incentives every time he/she uses the dustbin. This we hope will encourage the public to use dustbin more frequently. To address the second problem, we have designed a compartment that fits in between two dustbins that automatically segregates the waste disposed into plastic and non plastic waste. Thereby, aiming for a cleaner India and educating the citizens to keep their surroundings clean.

Trashbot

Throughout India, the accumulation of waste and trash in public places is a problem that needs to be addressed. Picking up and sorting garbage is a tedious task and has health effects on the people who handle the waste. To overcome this problem, a robot that seeks and picks up garbage from the public places and also segregates them into metallic, dry and wet waste has been proposed. The proposed robot can put an end to accumulation of trash in public places and also improve waste management. Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan for a “Cleaner & Hygienic” India is the main motivation behind taking up this project. This project aims to reduce the human effort involved in picking up and segregating the waste (into dry, wet and metallic) by using Trashbot (a garbage seeking and segregating robot). Low -level waste management practices are now undergoing rapid change such that the technology and requirements for waste segregation in the near future may differ significantly from those of the present day. Trashbot is a project still in its relative infancy. With its main motto “Cleanliness and Hygiene”, the robot has the capability to establish itself as a product that could not only clean the surroundings, but also aid the processes of waste management.

PLECO

We live in an era of skyscrapers. The maintenance has always been a tedious, uneconomical, unsafe task, which is performed only by professionals. These problems in the present scenario, made a necessity of a product like PLECO, as the famous saying goes “necessity is mother of invention. Pleco is totally unmanned, economical, environmental friendly, safe, smart, viable product which is used in grooming the skyscrapers effectively. On an average a building like U. B city spends approximately around 4 lakhs for cleaning only the glasses each time. Pleco can perform the same tasks at 0.0025% of the amount spent previously (aprox 1-1.5 k) and safe as no human involvement is need at higher altitudes of the building. The design is such that it performs skill based tasks like foam washing, dirt removal, polishing and many more, by climbing the walls with a working range of more than one kilo meter. Pleco sticks to the wall using suction or adhesion created by ducted fans (4500kv). It can also be controlled manually using N. R. F aurdino nano rc receiver transmitter circuits in case of emergency. The product is designed in such a manner that it automatically gets charged when it reaches certain threshold voltage, in the nearest station installed at every floor. At the first stage the brushes rotate and remove the dirt accumulated on the glass. It remains still for a longer time at the places where the dirct accumulation is more so that it cleans it better. Hence the reflected ir rays will slightly vary in magnitude, if the dirt concentration is less, then the glass appears semi transparent hence only little amount of ir rays is reflected back. In such places the product will move smoothly without delay. With safety as our theme, the risk and danger for the labors life working at higher altitudes is precluded.

Wind Injection Turbine

A new concept in wind power harnessing is described which significantly outperforms traditional wind turbines of the same diameter and aerodynamic characteristics under the same wind conditions and it delivers significantly higher output, at reduced cost. Its first innovative feature is the elimination of tower mounted turbines. These large mechanically complex turbines have the enormous towers used to hoist them into the sky, are the hallmark of today’s wind power industry. The second innovative feature of the project is that it captures wind flow through an omnidirectional intake and thereby there is no need for a passive or active air control. Third, it accelerates the flow within a shrouded Venturi section which is subsequently expanded and released into the ambient environment through a diffuser simulating the performance of this wind delivery system and its interaction with the wind at the front end and with a turbine at the back end. The objectives of the present work are to model and understand the flow field inside the structure where the actual wind turbine is located as well as the external flow field which not only provides the intake flow but also has to match the exhaust flow of the system. The results show that it is possible to capture, accelerate and concentrate the wind. Increased wind velocity results in the significant improvement in the power output. This results lead to the design of the demonstration facility which has provided actual data which verified the significantly increased power expectations.

Detachable Smart Faucet

Water management and safe sanitation are key challenges in today’s world, and efforts are being made to overcome this challenge. In order to avoid water crisis, we should design and contribute to innovative and life changing products which will help billions of people lead a healthy lifestyle. Automatic faucets have the advantage of shutting off automatically after washing hand, thereby reducing wastage of water. There is a necessity to develop a smart faucet that monitors water consumption and is detachable, affordable, and hygienic and user friendly. This project aims at developing an embedded system, ‘Detachable Smart Faucet’ that monitors and controls the water flow through faucets and uploads the water consumption data to a database that is accessible by the user. The smart faucets presently available in market are quite expensive and are easily not affordable. Also the entire existing tap setup has to be changed in order to install the automatic faucet which incurs additional cost. The proposed design overcomes these drawbacks and provides additional features.

Human Energy Harnessing using Bicycle

Human Energy Harnessing is the process of extraction of energy from human beings using physical work. One of the processes used to achieve this is the Pedal Power Generation. This technology harnesses energy from power exerted from pedaling a bicycle and can be used to generate electricity or operate mechanical devices. Thus considerable amount of energy while pedaling can be harvested effectively using simple battery charging circuits. The main aim of the pedalite project is to design a source of lighting that is reliable and durable and can be used to light up homes or schools in areas that are un electrified. The objective of the project is to design a non-conventional, electro-mechanical based energy storage system. To generate and save power as well as motivate people to maintain a healthy life. To electrify the parts of the country which still have no access to electricity, switch over to battery driven bicycle or normal mode of transportation. This is the best way of power generation having less environmental impact. In this project human energy is used as the source to generate power by pedaling bicycle, which in-turn gives mechanical energy and this mechanical energy is converted into electricity through permanent magnet DC generator.

Smart Water Purification Using Bio Adsorbant

India is facing water crisis and it is necessary to critically consider approaches to treat water so that it is suitable for use. The Proposed method of water treatment aims to remove pollutants from the water. Reverse osmosis is one of the oldest and most popular separation techniques used mainly for the purification of water. The process was mainly adopted for desalination of seawater in the year 1950, where the whole process was relatively slow and limited to certain laboratories. While reverse osmosis technology is one of humanity’s important scientific innovations, we will develop a basic understanding of the whole process here on this page. It works by forcing water through a special fine membrane to eliminate impurities that may not be visible to the naked eye. These membranes remove impurities based on their size and shape. This means that particles larger than water molecules cannot pass through the filter. The membrane blocks harmful chemicals and contaminants such as pesticides, viruses, microorganisms, ions, and bacteria, amongst others.

Automatic Waste Segregator

Waste management is becoming a hot topic in policy circles. Municipal governments, which are largely responsible for building and maintaining waste disposal networks, are keen to find ways of minimizing the cost of disposing of waste and the sheer amount of waste society products. Exposure to various hazardous wastes can affect human health, children being vulnerable to the pollutants. Direct dumping of untreated waste in rivers, seas, and lakes results in the accumulation of toxic substances in the food chain through the plants and animals that feed on it. The main objective of this project is to design a system using Arm Cortex LPC2148 microcontroller for automatic segregating of waste at source and capable of cleaning. This project aims to design an automatic segregator bin which can segregate the waste at source that helps in reducing the time taken for processing, and segregation work done for large amounts of waste in the later stages. It includes different partitions for collection of different wastes using sensors, with a LCD display which updates the status of the bin. The bin uses a vacuum cleaning mechanism for cleaning purpose. The system uses IR sensor for obstacle detection. Moisture sensor is used to detect wet materials or wet wastes containing moisture elements. Metal sensor is used to detect the metal based on relay, i.e. if any metal waste is placed near to metal detector, the relay is turned on. It is based on the principle of Electromagnetic induction. LCD display is used to display the status of the bin. Ultrasonic sensor estimates the distance of the obstacles in the front and sends message saying if the bin is full or not through GSM. This bin can be useful at places like offices, apartments, shopping malls etc. this system will be useful in making Waste Management in smart cities automated.

I-Kshana : Remote and real time monitoring system for people in need of special care

The project IKSHANA mainly deals with helping the children who need to be monitored continuously. This real time monitoring system will monitor the mental health of children and elderly and also determine their vitals and provide them the necessary help. It is mainly designed to help the specially abled kids who should be under constant watch. If they are left alone, they can damage things and harm themselves to seek attention of their guardians. Hence, if they are continuously monitored by use of camera and AI when they start to act aggressively. Parents can look after their kids or even elder people who require continuous monitoring. Their health report will be automatically sent to concerned doctor so that they can track their health. There is also provision of video monitoring so that parents or care givers can talk and calm them down. Cloud storage involves stashing data on hardware in a remote physical location, which can be accessed from any device. Cloud storage systems generally encompass hundreds of data servers linked together by a master control server, but the simplest system might involve just one. The AI-enabled device in this can measure movements, sleep patterns, and vital signs of the patient. What is unique about the device is that it radiates about a thousand times less radiation than from a mobile phone thus can be extremely user and health friendly.
